Nurseries anywhere in the UK can work with The Children’s Traffic Club!

Nursery/playgroups/school teachers have a crucial part to play in young children’s lives. The design of the Club resources is such that they can be dipped into and out of and fit nicely into the structure of lessons centered around road safety. The stories, songs and games can all be enjoyed in nursery on a one-to one basis in the computer corner, or can be used in group or class situations on an interactive whiteboard.

Everything is included to teach vital lifesaving road safety messages, while having fun!

Although The Children’s Traffic Club material is primarily developed as road safety tools, it is also educationally structured and helps children develop their skills and knowledge in many areas, including:

  • Language
  • Numeracy
  • Science
  • Art
  • Physical coordination
  • Thinking skills
  • Causes and consequences
  • Risk assessment

The resource has also been developed in accordance with:

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS):

  • A unique child
  • Positive Relationship
  • Enabling environments
  • Learning and development

Together with the Early Year Matters Strand:

  • Be healthy
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well-being
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Stay safe

The stories, songs and games are carefully structured for growing children aged three and four, with fun activities to do and things to practise when outside. Research has shown that The Children’s Traffic Club resources are particularly welcomed and appreciated in families of low income.

For children who are already members of the Club, the messages they are learning at home are reinforced. For those that are not members yet it allows them access to valuable road safety messages. To find out more about the Club, just click here
